Just use this thread to introduce yourself. It's easy. I'll even go first.
Hello. I'm Shaman; the creator and Admin of this forum. I live in a rural and mountainous part of the state of Ohio in the US.
I'm Native American and European in ancestry. I speak several foreign languages; the best of which is Japanese (日本語). I live the "Possum" lifestyle, though not by choice. 'Cause you know, being without a regular job for 6 years with a knee injury and neuro-biological disorder will do that.
I have a 240 square foot garden dedicated to a permacultural organic gardening which produces several hundred pounds of food every year. I also have blacksmithing, woodworking, beading, weaving, sewing, painting/calligraphy, and ceramics workshop. I have an extensive multi-lingual library in my living room.
Politically, I'm a Pluralist. I see that what might be a good political system for me might not be good for another person and vice-versa. I see nothing wrong with multiple modes of the peaceful organization of society.
Religiously, I believe in Shinto, and tutelary to that; Buddhism. Despite the latter, I'm not a pacifist and I do eat meat.
You'll probably notice a great degree of Japanese cultural influence in my posts. This is largely due to my childhood. My Great-grandfather was a sister city ambassador to Yokohama. As a result; our family was influenced a great deal... I remember being rocked to sleep while my mother told me such Japanese folktales as Bunbuku Chagama and Momotaro. We also ate a lot of Japanese food, so that's what tastes like home for me. (I'm also quite certain that if you haven't eaten Beikon Tsukemen, you haven't truly lived well.)
